Riding Lessons

At Peppertree Farm we believe that a solid foundation is vital for every rider, whether they simply want to ride for fun or have competitive aspirations. Our goal is to develop well rounded equestrians who have the skills not only to ride, but also to knowledgeably and capably care for their horses.

We pride ourselves on our professional, experienced instruction and high quality, well-trained school horses. Our students learn how to groom and tack up, safely handle their horses in a variety of conditions, and care for their equipment starting from the very first lesson! We also provide a variety of opportunities for out students to develop their unmounted and horse management skills. Our passion is helping new riders discover the joys of horseback riding in an beautiful, safe, and fun environment!

Testimonials

Shauna is a fabulous trainer and horse person and has a special gift for teaching kids and adult amateurs. She taught my daughter when she was 9-10 years old and helped her to develop a very solid basic balanced position along with an understanding for the correct use of aids. Shauna’s lessons were always fun and age/ability appropriate and include a solid foundation in horsemanship. If you are looking for a place where you or your child can learn to ride or refine existing skills in a safe environment I highly recommend Shauna and Peppertree farm.
— CLAIR THUNES
We spent a lot of time looking for a place for my daughter to start taking riding lessons, as we understand the importance of the very beginning foundational basis that lasts throughout your life. When Shauna began her program, we felt like we had won the lottery! Not only does Shauna and her excellent team of horses and ponies provide an environment to teach horsemanship, balance, and security, she incorporates an element of fun in every lesson. She has a natural talent working with both kids and horses, and her affordable program is an extremely rare find in Northern California!

Shauna is a lovely teacher who knows how to instill confidence in her students. She is calm and patient and really does well with young kids, adult amateurs, and intermediate riders of all ages.
She has small and large ponies as well as horses to be able to accommodate a range of riders and abilities.
I’ve had the pleasure to ride most of her school horses and never left without a smile on my face.

About Us

shauna diller

is an HA-level USPC graduate who began to ride before she could walk. When she was 5, she convinced her mom to sign her up for summer riding camp in Sebastopol where she was introduced to 3-day eventing, and her life-long passion for all things equestrian began!

At age 9, Shauna joined Panache Pony Club here in Davis. She acquired her first horse, a young off-the-range Mustang named “Maverick”, and together they slowly but surely progressed to eventually earn a spot at the USPC National Championships Dressage Team in Kentucky.   As a teen, Shauna would spend her summers as a working student before eventually relocating herself and Maverick to Georgia. While in the south, they continued their career in 3-day eventing through preliminary, competing at Poplar Place, Pine Top, and Rocking Horse among others. When Shauna began college and sold Maverick, she continued to ride, focusing first on Show Jumping and then Dressage, and later earning her USPC H-A.

Shauna has thoroughly enjoyed her lifelong hands-on equestrian education gained through working for a number of amazing horsemen- most recently as a groom and rider for Susan Treabess and Eva King, and previously as a working student in eventing at Dragonfire Farm and dressage for Tracey Lert, Joan Bolton, and Anne Howard. Through this journey she has discovered a passion and talent for working with beginning, returning, and nervous riders and training her own dressage horses.

Peppertree Farm is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to share Shauna’s passion and joy in developing a deep and well rounded understanding of horses and horsemanship.
